Cyprus: Deadlines of tax returns extended

August 3, 2022

To make things easier for taxpayers, the Cabinet of Ministers of Cyprus has extended the filing tax returns deadline for a month.

Individuals and the self-employed had until July 31 to file their tax returns. However, the Finance Minister of Cyprus proposed to issue a decree to extend the deadline until August 31.

The offer will only apply to individuals and the self-employed who do not report and not to companies and the self-employed with accounts. Parliament extended the last two categories for four months.

It was deemed appropriate to give an extension of one month to give taxpayers more time, and the deadlines for filing the two documents did not overlap.

Recently, Finance Minister Konstantinos Petrides announced this decision.

Tax Commissioner Sotiris Markides explained that any extension of the filing deadline would be accompanied by an extension of the deadline for paying any outstanding taxes arising from the tax form.

Income tax forms for 2021 must be filed by employees, retirees and self-employed persons with a gross income exceeding €19,500.
